Consider checking out Basically Bipolar

Quote from JeffersonW on April 25, 2018, 12:04 amIt's weird how serendipitous life can be.
A couple of years ago I was kite boarding in this disgusting alkaline lake just outside Laramie Wyoming. When I came to shore there was this guy standing there - and he tapped his head....I was floored. It's the accepted sign of wanting someone to grab your kite. He was asking me if I wanted to land.
Turns out he was kiting at the other nearby lake and saw my rig and stopped. He had moved to Laramie but had spent years kiting the Columbia Gorge in Oregon, he too had a mechanical engineering degree!
We wound up kiting and camping all over the worst spots on earth to kite - laughing out our various experiences.
He had worked at the research station in Antarctica, Greenland and had all sorts of amazing stories. He was even in a movie at a few spots.
He went to Baja for a while, living in his truck in a ravine, kiting, mountain biking and stand up paddle boarding and taking amazing pictures along the way.
Two years later he was in the area - we met up at Lake Mcconaughy in Nebraska to hang out and kite.
I told him over a beer that I was writing "Finding Shelter from the Storm", he almost shot beer out of his nose. He was writing about his experiences at both poles - "Basically Bipolar."
I read a draft of his book last fall - it's hilarious, informative, pensive, scary in spots and frankly fantastic.
Please check out his blog - his book is coming soon.
