They both (a forum and a blog) sort of do the same thing - although I envision a blog to be more about the author.

I went with a forum because I want to encourage more of a discussion -- one that is more organized and puts the readers on the same playing field as the author.

Also - most everyone knows how to use a forum - a comment thread on a blog post too quickly becomes abandoned.
